RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: President Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Maqsood Ismail has demanded of the government to include Lasbela in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in order to practically involve Balochistan in this project.

Maqsood Ismail and former president Yakoob H Karim said that a link road with CPEC could easily be constructed without much expenses but a bigger benefit could be gained by the two-way traffic.

They said that despite the claim by the government to include Balochistan into CPEC, nothing has been done practically. Lasbela is the only industrial area of Balochistan where modern and state-of-art industries have been set up and provided thousands of Balochistan’s people their livelihood.

Mqsood said linking Hub Industrial Area with CPEC, Hub’s industry would be flourished by increasing productivity as they may have more avenues and destinations for exports.

He said that Balochistan’s feeling of deprivation could only be removed by developing industrial area, extending more incentives for the investors for setting up more industries here and tax holiday for at least five years in order to attract more and more investors into industrial sector and provide job opportunities for the Balochistan’s youth.

He asked that why the government is waiting for as the KP government has declared three-year tax holiday for the industry in its industrial zones.
