KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 133,115 tonnes of cargo comprising 113,995 tonnes of import cargo and 19,120 tonnes of export cargo including 5,163 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 113,995 tonnes comprised of 44,126 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,296 tonnes of general cargo; 19,699 tonnes of bulk cargo and 34,874 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 19,120 tonnes comprised of 13,077 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of general cargo; 3,923 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,163 containers comprising of 3,111 containers import and 2,052 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,059 of 20’s and 1,000 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 26 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 318 of 20’s and 174 of 40’s loaded containers while 466 of 20’s and 460 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Hansa Neuburg, HS Marco Polo, MT Lahore, Oriental Jasmine, Al Mahboobah, Georgianna Bo, Pacific Dream and Moonbright SW carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, coal, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Wan Hai-503, Oriental Sakura, Olympic Spirit-II, IVS Beachwood and Bedford Castle carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were two ships namely Osaka Tower and APL Coral carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday while three ships namely A Idefix, Maple Ingrid and Bedford Castle carrying containers, talcum powder and steel respectively are expected to sail on Friday.

There were no vessels due to arrive on Thursday while six vessels viz. Najran, Ponente, Bunga Laurel, Salzgitter, Spar Corona and Jin Ping carrying containers, chemical, coal, vehicle and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 172,000 tonnes comprising 132,000 tonnes of import cargo and 40,000 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,106 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Toska and MT Horizan carrying containers and edible oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.

A total number of ten vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Toska, CV Maersk Kyneria, MV Jaohar Rasha, MT Pansria, MV Prime, MV Singapore Bulker, MT Horizan, MT GOT-II, MT Tangguh Sago and MT Bow Tone currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, clinker, coal, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as four ships carrying containers, furnace oil, LPG and phosphoric acid were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.

There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Valecia, CV NTK Furrano, MT Boronia and MT Loyal Pigasus carrying containers, furnace oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were no ships due to arrive on Thursday.
