CHICAGO: Spot cash basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat were flat in the southern US Plains on Wednesday, traders said.

Farmers are cautious about warmer weather in the US Plains as warmth can make wheat come out of dormancy well before the last freeze date, dealers said. Elevators and flour mills had ample supplies of wheat, dealers said. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City rose 1 cent for wheat with 11.8 percent to 12.8 percent protein. All other protein premiums were unchanged Tuesday. As of 10:28 a.m. CST (1628 GMT), K.C. March HRW wheat was last down 6-1/2 cents at $4.39-3/4 a bushel.—Reuters
