QUETTA: The lawmakers unanimously approved Balochistan Supplementary Budget have size of over Rs 34.50 billion for the financial year 2015-16, here on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri presented the supplementary budget in the assembly session which was presided over by Speaker, Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani.

The Chief Minister presented total 23 demands for grants of the supplementary budget. A sum of Rs.21.584 billion belonged to development expenditures and another sum of Rs. 12.917 billion was approved for non-development expenditures.

The Opposition in the Balochistan Assembly did not oppose the supplementary budget for the financial year 2015-16. Opposition leader Maulana Abdul Wasey and other opposition members did not move even a single cut motion on all the 23 demands for grants.

The highest allocation of Rs. 8.962 billion was sought for development expenditure for economic services while Rs. 7.634 billion were approved for the expenditure in connection with the housing and community sector.

The lawmakers approved a demand for grant of Rs. 2.215 billion for the expenditures for educational affairs and another demand for grant of Rs. 1.119 billion for the environmental protection.

The non-development budget included a demand for grant of Rs.4.439 billion for expenditure in connection with secondary education and Rs. 3.762 billion for the expenditures for power sector. Another amount of Rs. 1.62 billion was approved for the expenditure in civil works.—APP
