RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has distanced itself from former Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani, saying that the Party does not subscribe to his views.

A spokesperson for the party said this when his attention was drawn to recent statements by Hussain Haqqani on a host of issues, involving national security. The spokesperson said that Hussain Haqqani’s views are entirely his own and it would not be correct to attribute them to the party.

When contacted, PPP Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar told Business Recorder that Haqqani’s statement should not be linked to party’s stance.

Asked about the statement of Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz that Hussain Haqqani is lobbying against Pakistan’s interests in the US, Farhatullah Babar reiterated that those were strictly his (Haqqani’s) views.
