TEHRAN: Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for security affairs Hossein Zolfaqari has said that Iran and Pakistan relations are strategic and deep rooted and the ambassadors of the two countries should work to boost cooperation. Zolfaqari made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistan outgoing Ambassador to Tehran Noor Mohammad Jadmani.

Zolfaqari underlined necessity to follow up agreements achieved in visit of President Hassan Rouhani and Interior Minister Rahmani Fazli to Islamabad in March 2015, calling for implementation of approvals of them special security committee and joint border commission. Jadmani evaluated his tenure in Iran successful and appreciated the meeting on assistance to Afghan refugees in Iran in presence of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and a number of foreign ambassadors to Tehran.

He underlined his country’s readiness to hold joint economic commission meeting.—INP
