KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that nuclear weapons are deterrent and cannot be used.

“We know that we can show it, we can have a photograph of it, but we can’t use a nuclear weapon,” he said, adding that these weapons are only to deter each other against any aggression.

A private news channel quoted Zardari as saying in an interview with foreign news channel RT.

He spoke about relations between Pakistan and India in the interview. He called upon the international community to play their due role to resolve the issue of Kashmir instead of pointing fingers.

He said that Kashmir was a longstanding issue and tensions between Pakistan and India revolved around tensions in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also a Kashmiri.

Former president of Pakistan said this was high time for the international community to sit together and work out a solution to the longstanding issue.
