ISLAMABAD: Senate House Committee on Thursday expressed displeasure over working of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and directed its officials to improve their performance.

Committee of the meeting was held in-camera in the Parliament House wherein CDA officials briefed the members about different ongoing projects including delay in payment of utility bills of official residence of Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.

The members were given a comprehensive briefing by CDA officials on the under construction additional block of 104 family suites along with date of completion and possibility for earmarking the same to the 104 Senators.

Members of the committee expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of work and directed the officials to expedite the construction work at the earliest.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) had approved the PC-1 of the family suites project in January 2010. The cost of the project was Rs2.9 billion and as per its PC-1 it was supposed to be completed by January 2013.

The CDA officials, however, assured the committee members to complete the construction work by end of this year.
