KARACHI: Corruption and terror facilitation accused, former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain has said that appointment of Murad Ali Shah would not affect the cases against him.

In a brief conversation with pressmen on Saturday after hearing of corruption reference worth Rs17 billion, Dr Hussain denied the rumours that Murad Ali Shah met with him last night.

However, he welcomed the change in political leadership of the province. While answering a question, the alleged corrupt PPP leader said that he does not want to indulge himself in becoming the Governor of Sindh after his battle.

On the other hand, the accountability court adjourned hearing of the corruption reference until August 13.

During the hearing, counsels of all the accused complained that prosecution had not given them copies of witnesses’ statements and the court should order them in the matter.

Dr Asim Hussain is facing trial in two references filed by the National Accountability Bureau in two separate corruption cases and also a terrorist facilitation case registered at North Nazimabad Police Station last year. Dr Asim Hussain has pleaded innocence in all cases.—INP
