PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Thursday observed Youm-e-Shuhada Police Day across the province and paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of police in the war against terrorism.

Today is the six death anniversary of the late IG FC Safwat Ghayur, who was killed in suicide attack in Peshawar.

According to details, Capital City Police (CCPO) Peshawar Mubarik Zaib paid a visit to Frontier Constabulary (FC) Commandant Safwat Ghayur’s grave who was killed in a suicide attack on a roundabout near his office in 2010.

Guard of honour was also presented to the martyr while higher police officials also participated in the ceremony.

Politician of various parties including Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, KP Senior minister for irrigation and social welfare Sikandar Khan Sherpao, provincial minister for labour and mineral development Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, KP assembly legislature Bakhtbedar Khan, Hashim Babar, QWP provincial general secretary, Tariq Ahmad Khan, provincial information secretary, Adbul Karim Tordher and others visited too to Ghayur’s grave at Aaqa Baba graveyard and paid tribute to him.

Eulogizing the police sacrifices, Sherpao said that late Safwat Ghayur and other police had played a role model for the upcoming generation and their names would be written in golden words of country and KP history.
