KARACHI: The rupee managed to move up marginally versus the dollar on the inter-bank market on Thursday in the process of trading, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee rose by two paisas against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.58 and Rs 104.60 respectively, dealers said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was unchanged versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 106.10 and Rs 106.30 respectively, while it recovered 40 paisas in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 117.90 and Rs 118.90 respectively, they added.

In the fourth Asian trade, the New Zealand dollar surged to its highest level in more than a year after the Reserve Bank of New Zealand cut interest rates as expected, disappointing some who had been betting on more aggressive easing.

The New Zealand dollar rose to as high as $0.7351, its highest level since May 2015, before settling back to stand at $0.7265, up 1.1 percent from late US trade on Wednesday.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 66.88, the US currency was available at 4.0150 in relation to the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was at 6.6400 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged amid sluggish trading trend on the local currency market on Thursday.

The dollar resumed trading at its Wednesday's closing of Rs 106.20 and Rs 106.50 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. The dollar did not observe any change in its demand and supply situation that helped the rupee stability. Its opening rate continued to prevail till close of trading.

On the other hand, the rupee recovered some of its earlier loss and appreciated against the British pound. The pound's buying and selling rates declined from the day earlier closing of Rs 138.35 and Rs 139.85 to Rs 137.50 and Rs 139.20, respectively, the dealers said.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The value of rupee against the dollar remained unchanged at local currency establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.

The dollar opened at Rs 104.50 (buying) and Rs 105 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in evening session and closed at Rs 104.50 (buying) and Rs 105 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 137.50 (buying) and Rs 138 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 137.50 (buying) and Rs 138 (selling) by the end of second session.
