ISLAMABAD: Former MNA of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and chairman twin cities Metro Bus Project Hanif Abbasi along with dozens of party workers attacked Police Station, New Town in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi to get his men released who were arrested by the police on the charges of one-wheeling.

Police officials who requested not to be named told Business Recorder that the ex-MNA along with score of his supporters stormed the police station and broke the windowpanes and made SHO Asghar Chandio hostage allegedly to force him for the release of the bikers – PML-N workers who were booked for one-wheeling on the busiest roads of the city.

Chanting slogans against police, Abbasi’s supporters also pelted the police station building with stones and ransacked reporting room and damaged police record. They also chanted slogans against police.

The charged PML-N workers also thrashed the policemen who were on duty to secure the Youth Convention of PML-N.

The top police officials of the city later took action against the SHO instead of the PML-N workers and transferred him to Police Line as punishment.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had issued strict instructions of taking action against those found involved in one-wheeling in the city.

According to sources, traffic wardens have arrested three youngsters on the charges of one wheeling near PML-N Youth Convention that was being organised by city chapter of ruling party in commercial market.
