PESHAWAR: Preparations gained momentum on Thursday to celebrate the Independence Day in befitting manner. Houses, streets and markets are being decorated with buntings, banners and national flags. Special stalls have been set up in the markets for sale of national flags, badges, and green caps, which are making roaring business. Various political, educational, social and literary organizations are chalking out programmes and functions to celebrate the Independence Day.

Radio Pakistan has also arranged special programmes in this connection to highlight different aspects of the independence struggle waged for a separate homeland for Muslims of the Subcontinent. New national songs produced by Radio Pakistan and excerpts from speeches of the father of the nation, titled “Quaid ki Awaz” are being broadcast from August 01 to 14.

In order to illuminate houses and shops, the sale of decoration lights and other material is on the rise. According to programme, the day would dawn with special prayers in mosques for the integrity, prosperity, solidarity and development of Pakistan.
