RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to file a reference against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on August 15 with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, seeking his disqualification for concealing assets.

It was decided in a high-level meeting presided over by party chairman Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence that besides protest rallies in different cities of the country against corruption, a reference will also be filed with NA Speaker on Monday.

Talking to media after the meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that a reference against the Prime Minister has been prepared under Articles 62, 63 of constitution, which will be presented to NA Speaker on Monday.

He said after the Army Public School massacre in Peshawar, all the parties had given full mandate to Nawaz Sharif, but there has been no let-up in war against terrorism, which speaks volume of the government’s incompetence.

He also called upon the Prime Minister to accept the terms of reference (ToRs) drafted by the combined opposition parties in order to proceed with the investigation against those holding offshore companies.

About the rallies of his party, he said that government has started creating hurdles towards PTI rally against corruption in Islamabad, which he said is not acceptable as the sole purpose of the rally is to create awareness against the menace of corruption.

Without mentioning a rally staged by a religious political party in Islamabad, he said that if a religious political party can be allowed to hold a rally in Islamabad, why the government is bent upon creating hurdles towards PTI rally.

“We did not stop Amir Muqam from holding a rally in Peshawar, as staging peaceful rallies is the democratic right of every political party, and our rally against corruption led by Imran Khan will definitely reach Islamabad on August 13,” he added.
