MULTAN/KARACHI/RAWALPINDI: Five persons were killed while over 41 were injured from an aerial firings on the Independence Day in Multan and Karachi while dozens of others were injured in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Sunday.

According to reports, a man committed suicide after killing two people including a child during a ceremony in connection with Independence Day here on Sunday.

The police said that accused Nadeem opened heavy aerial firing during a cake cutting ceremony organised to mark the Independence Day in Basti Malook of Multan.

Two including a child Irfan and another person Saleem Rajab Awan were critically injured. Both were rushed to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The culprit also committed suicide by shooting himself with the same weapon.

In Karachi, two persons were killed and 11 including three women were injured from aerial firings when various areas of Karachi, including M A Jinnah Road, Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Arts Council, Clifton, Malir, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal echoed firecracker blasts as soon as the clock struck 12 midnight.

Meanwhile, over 30 people including women and children were injured from aerial firing in various areas of Rawalpindi. Many people were also injured from aerial firings in Islamabad too.—INP
