LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will train 1,000 youth in Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) course in one year without any charges.

This course is being launched after successful beginning of Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) course across the province.

It may be added that TEVTA, has started demand driven short courses for the unemployed educated youth to provide them immediate employment.

Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh was addressing a meeting which was attended by SSP Motorway Police Masroor Kolachi, Head CAREEM networks Lahore Muhammd Usman, Consultant EPIC Ghulam Mustafa, and TEVTA COO Jawad Ahmed Qureshi.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that TEVTA with the collaboration of National Highways will train 4800 youth free of any fee in LTV short course this year. So far 2400 drivers have been trained in the said course. Security clearance has also been obtained of these successful trainees from special branch of the Punjab Police. As part of the course each trainee is awarded free LTV driving license after qualifying Driving Licensing Authority's driving test. Many pass-outs of LTV driving course have been given jobs by multi-national and national companies. Various other companies have also assured to provide job to TEVTA Pass-outs.

Chairperson TEVTA further said that the Middle Eastern Countries require the services of trained drivers, therefore.

TEVTA, has started LTV course with the collaboration of National Highways and Motorway Police at the 36 Road Safety Training Institutes (RSTIs) in the province The introduction of Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) Course will meet the deficiency of heavy transport sector.
