PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Commerce, Engr Khurram Dastgir while visiting Torkham border on Thursday has said that border management mechanism adopted at Torkham border will not only improve business activities but will also enhance job opportunists to the tribesmen.

Flanked by Collector Customs, Qurban Ali, Political Agent (PA), Khalid Mehmood, administration and forces officials, the minister inspected Customs and Immigration offices and observed their routine works.

Speaking on the occasion Khurram Dastgir said that aim of his visit was to examine basic infrastructure of trade and to look into the efficiency of other departments. He further said that legalizing the border was meant to provide best travelling facilities to the travellers and traders within legal frame work. He expressed satisfaction over the installed functional computer system, scanners and other modern technology and asked the Customs officials to create pro-traders policies to boost export.

He also said that land port construction would be started next year which will boost trade and business activities at Torkham border, adding that he would take up the Khyber Railway Track reconstruction issue with its federal minister to restart train that could be exploited for trade and tour purposes to attract tourists and businessmen. He assured the local traders that their grievances would be addressed.
