ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said on Thursday that the Prime Minister’s Public Affairs and Grievances Cell received a total of 2,46,800 complaints and 60 percent of them were entertained so far.

Addressing a news conference, the minister said that Prime Minister’s Public Affairs and Grievances Cell is working proactively and receiving complaints of the people across the country. He said that the Cell received 1,46,000 complaints of the people from Punjab, 44,000 from Sindh, 5,000 from Balochistan, 16,000 from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said that the Cell entertained 60 percent complaints of the people while remaining applications would be entertained by the end of December of this year. The Prime Minister has an aspiration for provision of justice and relief to the oppressed people at their doorstep, he added.

The minister said that the Cell has Rs 100 million budget and now the Prime Minister has transferred Rs 300 million more to it.

Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said the government is helping the poor people with regard to health, education, and wedding of the poor girls from Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal. He said that the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is assisting the poor patients through one window operation. He said that even we are providing Rs 5 to Rs 6 million to the poor patients of serious diseases including kidney, hepatitis and others.

He maintained that they have helped 234 such poor patients. While giving details, he said that they entertained 89 patients from Punjab, 57 from Sindh, 75 from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan and 13 from Balochistan.
