KARACHI: At least three persons were burnt to death when an oil tanker collided with vehicles at the city’s Super Highway, area here on Wednesday.

According to police and rescue sources, the oil-tanker which was on its way to Hyderabad from Karachi, collided with vehicles after its tyre burst. As a result, fire erupted and the inferno heightened more vehicles.

A trailer carrying as many as 25 vehicles was also engulfed by the flames.

Initially, two fire brigade vehicles reached at the scene but due to greater intensity of the fire two more tenders were called in. Both the tracks of Super Highway were closed after the accident and traffic was suspended. Long queues of vehicles were seen lined up on the road due to the burnt wreckage on the road.

Rescue officials faced difficulties in reaching the incident site due to traffic blockage. They pulled out three bodies from the vehicles.
