RECORDER REPORT

HYDERABAD: The family and neighbours of a person who was fatally injured in a police encounter continued the protest along with the dead body for a second day here Thursday.

Abdul Shakoor Oad, brother of slain suspect Abdul Sattar Oad, alleged while talking to the media that the police arrested him a week before he was shot dead in the encounter.

“We had even filed a petition in the District and Session Court for recovery of Abdul Sattar before the police killed him in the encounter,” he alleged.

Oad and other protesters demanded that the police should lodge an FIR against the policemen who were involved in the encounter.

The protest continued for more than 6 hours until the police assured the protesters that an FIR could be lodged against the policemen only under the orders of the court.

Oad told the media that the family would not laid to rest the dead body of Abdul Sattar Oad until the police book the case.

He said the dead body had been handed over to Edhi to be kept at its mortuary.

On Wednesday, the police spokesman Mazhar Shani claimed that two suspects including Oad and Zahid alias Gainda were injured in an encounter with the Sakhi Pir police near Sattar Shah Graveyard.

Both the suspects were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital where they succumbed to the injuries, he added.

He claimed that both the suspects were wanted to the police in heinous crimes.
