KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 122,806 tonnes of cargo comprising 94,907 tonnes of import cargo and 27,899 tonnes of export cargo including 6,478 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday

The total import cargo of 94,907 tonnes comprised of 59,030 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,943 tonnes of general cargo; 15,759 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 8,591 tonnes of coal; 2,394 tonnes of palm kernal expeller; 4,774 tonnes of DAP and 18,175 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 27,899 tonnes comprised of 25,399 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,478 containers comprising of 3,764 containers import and 2,714 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,641 of 20’s and 1,002 of 40’s loaded while 55 of 20’s and 32 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 695 of 20’s and 384 of 40’s loaded containers while 223 of 20’s and 514 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Batam Trader, Favorita and Taroko carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. A Idefix, Hyundai Bangkok and Oriental Sakura carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

There were three ships namely A Idefix, Vecchio Bridge and Champion Tern carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Cosco Haifa and Cosco Wellington carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There were two vessels viz. Najran and King Success carrying containers and steel due to arrive on Friday while three vessels viz. APL Cyprine, Karina Danica and Morning Chant carrying containers and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 69,998 tonnes comprising 62,227 tonnes of import cargo and 7,771 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 874 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 62,227 tonnes includes 30,390 tonnes of furnace oil; 2,807 tonnes of LPG; 1,701 tonnes of project cargo; 18,494 tonnes of coal and 8,835 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo includes 7,771 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 874 containers comprising of 465 containers import and 409 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely CV Mehun and MT White Purl carrying containers and LPG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MT Tian Shan carrying general cargo is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of five vessels viz. CV Mehun, MV Bao Tong, MT Tian Shan, MT White Purl and MT Genie currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, general cargo, LPG and furnace oil during the last 24 hours.

As many as six ships namely CV San Francisco, MV Johar Express, MV Clipper Helen, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Bahra and MT Saverna Kaeri carrying containers, cement, chemical and diesel oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.

There were three vessels viz. CV San Francisco, CV Hansa America and MV Clipper Helen carrying containers and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were six ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV MSC Bilbao, MV BBC Kimberley, MV Ping An Song, MT Tahiti-One and MT Qubaa carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean seeds and furnace oil due to arrive on Friday.
