KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 138,474 tonnes of cargo comprising 124,605 tonnes of import cargo and 13,869 tonnes of export cargo including 3,766 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday

The total import cargo of 124,605 tonnes comprised of 22,953 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,290 tonnes of general cargo; 34,967 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 28,357 tonnes of coal; 6,610 tonnes of DAP and 61,395 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 13,869 tonnes comprised of 13,569 tonnes of containerised cargo and 300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,766 containers comprising of 2,049 containers import and 1,717 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 401 of 20’s and 738 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 86 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 312 of 20’s and 283 of 40’s loaded containers while 275 of 20’s and 282 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely APL Coral, KMTC Dubai, Kota Kamil, Europrogress, Stolt Endurance and Nord Treasure carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Kota Kamil, Batam Trader, Taroko, Globe Pegasus and Heilan Aroma carrying containers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There was one ship namely Ever Diamond carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday.

There were three vessels viz. Alexandria Bridge, Riva Wind and Tian Fu carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while two vessels viz. Sabya and Paran Dowski carrying containers and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 90,685 tonnes comprising 51,023 tonnes of import cargo and 39,662 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,218 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 51,023 tonnes includes 20,379 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,500 tonnes of LPG; 2,444 tonnes of project cargo; 1,000 tonnes of chemical and 24,700 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 39,662 tonnes includes 3,220 tonnes of cement and 36,442 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,218 containers comprising of 1,300 containers import and 1,918 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely CV CMA CGM Uruguay carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely C.V Maersk Stepnica, M.V Favourisation, M.V Tian Fu, M.T Liberty-N and M.T Ridge Bury Rose Mary are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve vessels viz. C.V Maersk Stepnica, CV CMA CGM Uruguay, MV Johar Express, M.V Favourisation, MV Tian Fu, MV KSL Chaoyang, MT Bunga Angsana, M.T Liberty-N, MT Tomson Gas, M.T Ridge Bury Rose Mary, MT Umm Bab and MT Gas Lion currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, general cargo, LPG and diesel oil during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, MV Diyaab, MV Argent Bloom, MT Ikan Bawal, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Saverna Kaeri, MT Seleine and MT Argent Astre carrying containers, cement, phosphoric acid, soyabean seeds, diesel oil and palm oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.

There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, MV Diyaab, MV Argent Bloom and MT Ikan Bawal carrying containers, cement, soyabean seeds and phosphoric acid expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were six ships namely CV X-Press Kailash, MV Chong Ming, MV Gas Chem Pacific, MT Qubaa, MT Genie and MT Aframax Rivera` carrying containers, chemical, furnace oil and crude oil due to arrive on Thursday.

There are two ships namely CV CSAV Toconao and CV Uni Florida carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
