YAOUNDE: Cameroon exported 13,871 tonnes of coffee from January to August this year, up 15 percent on last year, government data showed on Monday.

The data from the National Office of Cocoa and Coffee showed that nearly all the coffee was robusta, apart from 1,210 tonnes of arabica.

Last year's total was 12,000 tonnes.

It noted that the government is about to hand out 2.9 million coffee plants to producers, which would significantly increase the amount of land under cultivation for coffee crops.-Reuters
