ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges Tuesday constituted a sub-committee to inquire into the question of privilege raised by MNA Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan against a former district coordination officer of Faisalabad.

The meeting of the committee was held in the chair of Junaid Anwar Chaudhry here at the Parliament House.

The four-member sub-committee led by Muhammad Raza Hayat Haraj is directed to investigate the issue and present a detailed report on it to the committee within 15 days.

While discussing the question of privilege raised by Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan regarding launching of malicious campaign in media allegedly by Noor-ul-Ameen Mengal, ex-DCO Faisalabad, against him, the committee heard the viewpoints of both the complainant and the respondent.

The committee has directed the district collector Faisalabad to inquire into the issue of leakage of baseless information from the DC office to media against the MNA, fix responsibility against the person(s) found responsible, and submit a report within 15 days.

The committee while discussing the question of privilege raised by MNA Azhar Qayyum Nahra against Babar Walah, former Assistant Director (Land), Nowshehra Virkan, district Gujranwala, expressed displeasure on delayed compliance of its earlier directions by the authorities.

The committee directed the Commissioner Gujranwala to submit copies of transfer orders of the said assistant director (land) along with his communication with the chief secretary Punjab in this regard.

While discussing the question of privilege raised by MNA Sahibzada Muhammad Nazir Sultan regarding raid of police on his residence, the committee directed the additional inspector general of Punjab Police to conclude inquiry being conducted against SDPO Ahmedpur Sial tehsil and SHO Police Station Garh Maharajah within three weeks and submit the same to the committee.

The committee also decided to summon Kiran Khursheed, Additional Secretary, Finance/ES, government of Punjab, in its next meeting to further discuss the question of privilege raised by MNA Malik Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, as the written reply submitted by the officer failed to satisfy the committee.

The committee disposed of the question of privilege raised by MNA Mian Imtiaz Ahmed on acceptance of unconditional apology rendered by Jameel Ahmed Jameel, Additional Deputy Commissioner General/Administrator Baldia, district Rahim Yar Khan, to the member as well as the committee.
