KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 146,114 tonnes of cargo comprising 121,370 tonnes of import cargo and 24,744 tonnes of export cargo including 6,801 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 121,370 tonnes comprised of 49,118 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,011 tonnes of general cargo; 20,953 tonnes of bulk cargo and 30,288 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 24,744 tonnes comprised of 24,629 tonnes of containerised cargo and 115 tonnes of general cargo.

As many as 6,801 containers comprising of 3,293 containers import and 3,508 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,125 of 20’s and 1,033 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and 50 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 559 of 20’s and 503 of 40’s loaded containers while 877 of 20’s and 533 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Express Black Sea, Maliakos, Oriental Sakura and Mid Falcon carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Ever Divine, KMTC Mumbai, DL Villet, Olivia, Mare Tracer, U Lucky and Kong Que Song carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were three ships namely Taroko, Ever Divine and Asprouda carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while four ships namely Kota Kaya, Mandarin Dcean, U Lucky and Kong Que Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There were seven vessels viz. Kota Kaya, SC Qingdao, AL Dasma, MT Quetta, Mohar, Valiant Ace and Eastern Light carrying containers, oil tankers, cement, vehicle and steel respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while two vessels viz. MOL Experience and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
