KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 183,505 tonnes of cargo comprising 136,903 tonnes of import cargo and 46,602 tonnes of export cargo including 8,112 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 136,903 tonnes comprised of 58,868 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29,162 tonnes of general cargo; 31,000 tonnes of coal and 17,873 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 46,602 tonnes comprised of 33,333 tonnes of containerised cargo and 561 tonnes of general cargo; 4,608 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 8,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,112 containers comprising of 3,874 containers import and 4,238 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,586 of 20’s and 1,140 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 04 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 930 of 20’s and 243 of 40’s loaded containers while 514 of 20’s and 1,154 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Ever Divine, Taroko, Asprouda, Valiant Ace and Mandarin Ocean carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Wan Hai-501, High Beam, Ardmore Seatrader, MT Quetta, SC Qingdao, Mohar, Valiant Ace and Uni Auc One carrying containers, oil tankers, cement, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were two ships namely U Lucky and Kong Que Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.

There were three vessels viz. MOL Experience, MT Lahore and CTG Cobalt carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. Maersk Stepnica, Al Farahidi, IVS Windsor and Africa Star carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 144,204 tonnes comprising 111,847 tonnes of import cargo and 32,357 tonnes of export cargo including 3,380 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 111,847 tonnes includes 16,331 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,300 tonnes of palm oil; 35,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,316 tonnes of LPG; 195 tonnes of chemical; l5,812 tonnes of canola seeds and 31,863 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 32,357 tonnes includes 32,357 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,380 containers comprising of 1,677 containers import and 1,703 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely MT Shalamar and MT Shamal carrying furnace oil and LNG sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV APL Charleston carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV APL Charleston, CV Maersk Stepnica, MV Marco, MT Maria-III, MT Nordic Gas, MT Shamal, MT Shalamar and MT Chemroad Mega currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight ships namely CV Mehuin, MV Arika Schulte, MV Gaschem Antartic, MV New Orleans, MT Nordic Gas, MT Ashanda, MT Pacific Energy and MT Harmony-1 carrying containers, chemical, phosphoric acid, LPG and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three vessels viz. CV Mehuin, MV New Orleans and MT Ashanda carrying containers, phosphoric acid and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were four ships namely CV Maersk Hartford, CV TG Posiedon, MV Chance and MT Bneider carrying containers, soyabean seeds and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while two ships namely CV San Francisco and CV Hansa America carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday
