HYDERABAD: A 3-day training workshop on “Research Methodology and Data Analysis Techniques” was organized by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Sindh, Jamshoro, in collaboration with Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Quality Enhancement Cell of the Varsity at its Senate Hall in the vice chancellor secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, pro vice chancellor, SU Laar Campus, Badin, congratulated the organizing team, the workshop facilitators and the participants on successful completion of the 3-day training.

“University of Sindh is extremely rich in terms of possessing the best, highly qualified, experienced and exceptionally talented human resource,” he said, adding that the research papers authored by SU faculty mostly published in the international research journals. He confidently said that the workshop experience would help the teacher-participants acquire expertise in learning to differentiate between the requirements of writing a research paper, a conference presentation paper and research theses; which as a result would enable them to publish their academic work in internationally indexed impact factor research journals.

Dr. Kalhoro also stressed the need for all academic heads to acquaint themselves with the university rules, regulations and policies so that they can be able to better guide their junior colleagues. He also emphasised on the need for various administrative sections of the varsity and multiple academic heads to develop more effective and productive rapport and coordination, so that the matters that take unnecessary long time due to lack of it can be resolved more quickly.

He profoundly thanked Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation, Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General PASTIC and member PSF, Abdul Fatah Shaikh, Senior Information Officer and coordinator PASTIC sub-centre Karachi and Afsheen Tarique, Assistant Senior Information Officer PASTIC for their help, cooperation, patronage and funding for the event. He also eulogized the efforts of Prof. Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh, Director ORIC, Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Memon, Director QEC, Prof. Dr. Allah Bux Ghanghro, Dr. Najma Memon and other SU officials for having organized an important workshop on research methodology.

On the occasion, Abdul Fatah Shaikh congratulated all participants for their successful completion of training. He expressed hope the training was up to their expectations. He said though it was not the last workshop but the response they received from the ORIC and QEC offices was amazing and it increase confidence of PASTIC that this collaboration would continue with the University of Sindh forever.

Shaikh further said that PASTIC would always be ready to provide maximum support to the researchers of University of Sindh in terms of capacity and skill development workshops, document services projection of research at international level and funding for various research activities. He also thanked University of Sindh for collaboration and the participants for their active involvement in the workshop.
