ISLAMABAD: In the light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision, the government is also taking serious measures in actualization of Urdu in government offices.

These thoughts were expressed by the reputable poet Iftikhar Arif, who has headed the Pakistan Academy of Letters and the National Language Authority National Language at a one day consultative workshop on “Urdu Main Zarae wa Scienci Aloom ka Firogh. Masayl, Imkanat aur Amli Iqdamat”, while being a chief guest that was Organized by Nizamat-e-Urdu (PARC).

A number of agricultural scientists, representatives of agri-institutions, teachers and translators attended this workshop. They lauded PARC for their efforts in implementation of Urdu and pledged their cooperation.

On this occasion, Dr Yousaf Zafar, Chairman (PARC) stated that his organisation is taking concrete steps for bona fide information deliverance to farmers. He also accentuated the agricultural scientists to get proficiency in national language for the boom in their agricultural research activities. In the respect of Council he pronounced the publication of an Agri-research magazine in Urdu.

At the closing ceremony of this workshop, Dr Ashraf, Chairman (Pakistan Science Foundation) laid stress upon planning for the transmission of modern scientific and technological research works. He assured of possible assistance in the establishment of preparation and publications of science and technology textbooks in national language.

Participants of this consultative workshop prepared recommendations on basic rules and strategies of translation, publication of research magazines in Urdu. Muhammad Aslam Alvari, Dir Urdu/Estt Directorate PARC and organizer of the workshop proposed the activities of Urdu directorate and informed the participants with upcoming projects.—PR
