LAHORE: Managing Director Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Tariq Mahmood has said that PEF has achieved important milestones of success in the school education sector by introducing different useful interventions for the needy communities.

It is good to note that PEF sponsored educational programs have strengthened the low cost private schools as well as motivating the underprivileged parents to send their children to PEF partner schools for studies. Partner schools of PEF should give admissions to out of school children (OOSC) on priority during current academic session.

Tariq Mahmood said this while presiding over weekly coordination meeting at his office Wednesday. Deputy Managing director (Support Services), Program directors and other officers attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed progress on educational initiatives.

MD PEF said that the number of District Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants (DMEAs) has increased to 186 with new ones. In this way the required standards of quality education could be well-maintained in a transparent manner. PEF monitoring mechanism would also be helpful in maintaining required standards of organizational transparency, he added.

MD PEF said that the process of PEF partnership continues under New School Program phase-8 and the partnership agreement with 225 schools have been completed successfully, whilst 276 remaining schools will be completed on priority. Further the data verification of students having vouchers in 11 districts of Punjab i.e. DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Faisalabad, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Kasur, Pak Pattan, Lahore, Jhang, Hafizabad is in process.

Tariq Mahmood asked the IT consultant to provide necessary guidance and support to the school partners in updating their students’ record in PEF server through the student information system (SIS). He also directed to accurate the data in Student Information System with intense care and be vigilant while ensuring to enter parents CNIC cards, date of births of children and other concerned data. Moreover, he said that the distribution of free text books to partner schools has successfully ended in 25 sites out of 31. Further during next three days 800 schools will receive eight hundred and fifty thousand books at Multan and Kot Adu.

MD PEF congratulated the PEF partner schools on great success of Punjab Examination Commission (PEC). He applauded Farheen Sharif for securing second position in 5th grade exam in the district of Multan. He termed all position holders as pride of the whole foundation. The meeting also reviewed different proposals to further improve and enhance the scope of work of all PEF programs.
