KARACHI: Mashood Ali Khan Chairman Pakistan Association of Auto Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) has urged the government to give equal participation to the local manufacturers and industrialists in the industrialization of the Gwadar region.

In an official statement after returning from Gwadar, he cited that leasing of land was only being granted to the Chinese industries in Phase I of the Industrial Area in Gwadar, including three Chinese companies, Aluminum Steel Manufacturers, Eatable Oil Company and Electric Car & Motorcycle Vehicle Company and local manufacturers had completely neglected in this regard.

He apprised that he along with several businessmen from Karachi and other cities were invited by the chairman Gwadar Chamber of Commerce & Industry to Gwadar; adding that development of Phase I of the industrial zone already completed where land was allocated to the Chinese firms on lease with 20 years tax holidays and the work on Phase II has just commenced. He said that PAAPAM requested Ahsan Iqbal minister for Planning and Development, who was also present there, to hold a meeting in order to discuss CPEC opportunities with them.

Chairman PAAPAM Mashood Ali Khan appreciated the Gwadar authorities’ decision to lease the land to Chinese and requested them to provide same opportunities to the locals especially from auto sector.
