RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: With the rise in mercury, demand for power consumption spiked against the supply side in the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) region, sources said.

The temperature touched to 42 degree Celsius on the higher side on Monday.

They said the LESCO was getting a supply of 2510 megawatt against a demand of 3400 megawatt, leaving the system with a shortfall of 900 megawatt. As a result, power breakdowns reached to 6 to 7 hours in urban and 10 to 12 hours a day in rural areas in the LESCO region. They have apprehended an increase in the load shedding duration ahead that may result into 6 hours a day load shedding in urban areas.
