ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that both Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had declared their late father a ‘money launderer ‘

Imran Khan was talking to media outside his Bani Gala residence where he welcomed Ahmad Yar Hiraj’s decision to join PTI at the occasion.

Imran said that everybody knows about the ownership of Mayfair flats of the Sharif family in London and it has also been confirmed by the Panama Leaks.

Khan was also of the opinion that leaders are always held accountable in democracy, adding as many as 12 corruption cases were pending against Nawaz Sharif before National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

He went on to say that both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif ‘staged a drama’ before the JIT. He also claimed that the Sharif brothers declared their father as money-launderer by themselves.

While taking a jibe at Shahbaz Sharif, he said Shahbaz was dressed like a 1920s mafia member, and staging a drama that their family has always faced accountability.

PTI chairman said that Sharif family had not appeared before the court themselves as they had been called in to appear. He reaffirmed that the entire nation stands by the Supreme Court and JIT.

PTI chairman severely criticized a top media tycoon, for allegedly extending support to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against heavy advertisements for his publications and TV channels.

“The godfather of media has vowed to support the godfather of politics as the latter gives him huge advertisements,” he added.

Earlier, in a series of tweets, the PTI chairman remarked that the appearance of the ruling Sharif family before the JIT is a “matter of shame, not applause.”

“It [should] be a matter of shame, not applause, for [Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz] that their [leaders], the [Prime Minister], [Chief Minister] and their kids have to appear before JIT on criminal charges,” he said, in a tweet.

He further remarked, “Outrageous: PMLN comparing corrupt, money laundering, asset concealing, tax evading Sharifs to Hazrat Umar RA a paragon of honesty [and] virtue.”
