KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has forecast a pre-monsoon rainy spell for the country during the next week.

It said that pre-monsoon currents are likely to penetrate in Pakistan from Monday that will produce rains in upper & central parts of the country such as: Rain, dust, thundershower with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan Divisions and Islamabad from Monday to Friday.

Isolated heavyfalls are also expected in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions on Wednesday, Thursday. Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of Malakand division, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Monday (evening) to Saturday.

Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places of Zhob, Sibbi, DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal Divisions during Tuesday (evening) to Thursday.

In the next 24 hours: Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country.

However, rain, dust-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Hazara and DI Khan Divisions, FATA, Islamabad and Kashmir.

Light rain-thunderstorm and drizzle expected at few places along Sindh and Makran coast.

Maximum temperature in Dadu was 49 degrees Celsius, Nokkundi and Sibbi 48, each, Dalbandin 47, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad 45, each in the last 24 hours.

“Weak seasonal low lies over northeast Balochistan. Moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating into upper and central parts of the country,” the Met said.
