LAHORE: In a new development, Thailand has made transit visa compulsory for Pakistani passengers.

Before this, the visa was not applicable on passengers on transit basis. Thai Airways and other airline companies have now refused to provide boarding card to hundreds of Pakistanis. Due to this the passengers who were set to travel via Thailand have switched to other airlines.

Thailand government has said that the Pakistanis have to visit the embassy in person to acquire the visa, which was earlier sent to them by post.

Reports suggest that after Europe and United States, Thailand and China will also impose additional restrictions on Pakistan in terms of visa acquisition.

In the aftermath of current circumstances, Pakistani passengers visiting US, Europe and Australia will first obtain the transit visa after which their seats will be confirmed.—NNI
