RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is planning to publish a White Paper to highlight, what it calls, corruption and mismanagement of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Centre as well as in Punjab.

A senior member of the PTI told Business Recorder that a team of experts is working on the proposed White Paper that would include corruption, mismanagement and irregularities in all the development projects initiated by the PML-N.

The White Paper would expose the ruling party’s performance in different sectors such as education, health and others, he said, adding that the ruling party has focused only on some so-called development projects to gain political mileage.

He claimed that Punjab is being ranked third among the country’s provinces in terms of imparting quality education as its education standards that has fallen by 3.34 per cent.

Among 36 districts in Punjab, he said, only three districts had shown improvement in the standards of education. Only nine districts in Punjab had shown 80pc improvement in education standards.

The PTI member claimed that the paper would also expose the anomalies and irregularities in different energy-related projects, including the LNG and solar.

He said that the PML-N governments, both in the Centre and in Punjab, spent billions of rupees on electronics and print media advertisements to highlight their performance, but in reality they have done little to improve lives of the people.

“We will expose governance and performance of the Sharifs through the White Paper to show their true faces to the people,” he said, adding that they have virtually destroyed all institutions in the country just to keep their hold on each and every thing.

The important subjects that would be covered in the paper include metro bus project, energy-related projects, education, health, a comparison of crime rate, Sasti Roti Scheme launched during previous tenure of the Punjab government, Saaf Pani Scheme, etc.

Facts and figures would be included in the white paper for easy understanding of the common man, he said, adding that alleged corruption in these projects to the tune of billions of rupees will also be part of the paper.

About possible release of the White paper, he said that senior leadership of the party is contemplating on it whether to publish it shortly after the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case or release it after announcement of next general elections.

He, however, said that the PTI is also working on a reference to be filed against Punjab chief minister based on findings against him in the joint investigation team (JIT), but it won’t be part of the paper.
