QUETTA: A large number of people on Saturday took out rallies in different cities of Balochistan to protest against a recent anti-Pakistan campaign in Geneva, in Switzerland.

The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the Swiss government, India and the United States, for stirring troubles in Pakistan. They demanded of Geneva not to allow its soil to be used by the proscribed organization Baloch Liberation Army to run anti-Pakistan campaign.

In Chaman, members of civil society and political parties hold a protest against the campaign being run in Geneva where posters with ‘Free Baluchistan’ were placed at prominent places.

A large number of citizens and children of the school took to the streets in Sibbi and demanded of the Swiss government not to allow its soil to be used against the sovereign state.

Similar protests were also held in Chagai, Khuzdar, Mastung, Dera Murad Jamali and Zhob, where protesters also demanded expelling Switzerland’s Ambassador to Pakistan.

Earlier this week, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani had asked the government to expel Swiss envoy in Islamabad over anti-Pakistan campaign in Switzerland.

Foreign Office needed to take serious steps and convey its reservations to the Swiss government in strongest possible terms over terrorism being exported to Pakistan from the Swiss soil, the Senator said.

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid had told the Senate that the ‘Free Baluchistan’ posters were displayed in Switzerland this year by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

The use of Swiss soil by a terrorist organisation for its nefarious designs against Pakistan was totally unacceptable, he said and added that allowing the display of posters by the Swiss government in the name of freedom of expression was a serious violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity and United Nations law and charter.—NNI
