RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the economic policies of the PML-N government have strengthened the national economy and vowed that the journey of development and prosperity will be accelerated further.

While talking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-N in London, Shehbaz said the continued hard work of the PML-N government has borne fruit and thousands of megawatts electricity has been included in the system.

As a result of it, the load shedding in Pakistan has mostly reined in. The Sahiwal Coal Power Plant is producing 1320MW electricity while 400MW solar projects have been completed in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur, he added.

He said that Punjab government has decided to set up a new gas power plant of 1200MW capacity to meet the energy needs of the future. The gas based energy projects will provide cheap electricity to the people, he added.

According to him, credit goes to PML-N government that a hefty amount of Rs 168 billion of the poor nation has been saved in 3600 megawatt gas-based project. There is no example of such savings in the development projects in the history of the country.

He said that due to the criminal negligence of the past rulers, the country plunged into darkness. The past rulers usurped the national resources but paid no heed to the energy crisis, he said.

“The looters of national resources made the country bankrupt and ruined the economy. One group plunged the country into darkness while the other group created hindrances in the efforts aimed at removal of darkness from the country. The elements involved in enhancing the problems of the people will be answerable to the court of the people,” he said.

He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has opened the doors of foreign investment in Pakistan and this economic initiative will benefit all the countries of the region.
