RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has criticized Nawaz Sharif for ridiculing the Supreme Court besides other national institutions.

While addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he claimed that Nawaz Sharif ridiculed the Supreme Court and at the same time he (Nawaz) maintained that he is not against the national institutions. “If one is held accountable for corruption, it does not tantamount to a conspiracy against democracy,” he said.

Fawad urged the Supreme Court to take notice of Nawaz’s press conference. He claimed that Nawaz has returned to the country to save his political career and not to face accountability. “Under these circumstances, how could we expect from these people to bring a change in the country,” he added.

Referring to Nawaz’s appearance before the accountability court, Fawad slammed the PML-N leader for reaching in an escort of 45 vehicles. He said the government spent millions of rupees for a five-minute appearance. He was agitated by the delay tactics deployed by the PML-N leaders. “They are using delaying tactics to avoid punishment. In fact, they are wasting the court’s time,” he added.

PTI spokesman observed that the prevailing situation in the country demand a fresh general election. To a question, he said that the future of Imran Khan’s legal case is in the dustbin. “There is no chance of Imran Khan’s disqualification in any legal case he is facing,” Fawad categorically stated.

He also maintained that the establishment is not powerful enough to challenge the people’s will. “Those who have the peoples’ support cannot be removed,” he added. “It is important for PTI to replace opposition leader Khursheed Shah so that we will be involved in the consultation process for an interim government,” he added.
