RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Karachi deputy mayor Arshad Abdullah Vohra on Thursday asked the administration of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Nazimabad to prepare a planner to ensure that its doctors and related staff appear on duty with regularity.

On a surprise visit to the hospital, one of the city’s biggest health facilities which is run by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the deputy mayor instructed the administration to present the planner regarding duty schedules by next Tuesday. Hospital sources said many doctors and other members of the hospital staff fail to follow official timings, with some of them remaining absent from their offices.

The situation is slowing the pace of work and is badly affecting the hospital’s overall performance, the sources said.
