KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 72,895 tonnes of cargo comprising 57,798 tonnes of import cargo and 15,097 tonnes of export cargo including 2,882 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 57,798 tonnes comprised of 17,253 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,234 tonnes of general cargo and 39,311 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 15,097 tonnes comprised of 10,897 tonnes of containerised cargo and 4,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,882 containers comprising of 1,331 containers import and 1,551 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 273 of 20’s and 529 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and nil of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 320 of 20’s and 35 of 40’s loaded containers while 507 of 20’s and 327 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely MOL Explorer, Hansa Neuburg, Ever Divine, Sea Hawk, Breezy Victoria and Liberty Passion carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Hansa Neuburg, Bodo Schulte, MT Lahore, Trugen and Elgiznur Cebi carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and coal respectively currently at the berths.

There was one ship namely Chemroad Nova carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Trugen and Noble Cora carrying chemical and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There were five vessels APL Japan, Fowairet, CT Confidence, Winterset and Darya Brahma carrying containers, chemical, cement and coal respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz. CMA CGM Georgia, Prosper, Virgo and Hyundai Force carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 101,735 tonnes comprising 83,704 tonnes of import cargo and 18,031 tonnes of export cargo including 2,097 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

As many as 2,097 containers comprising of 1,148 containers import and 949 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were four ships namely CV Priority, MV Gong Yin-1, MV Chemroad Queen and MT Lion-M carrying containers, project cargo, chemical and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Priority, MV Chang An, MV Da Kang, MV Gong Yin-1, MV QI-Xiang-22, MV Chemroad Queen, MT White Purl, MT Lion-M and MT Horizon currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, animal feeds, project cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as four ships namely MV Gas Texiana, MT Mezaira, MT Jog Leela and MT Pavino Spirit carrying chemical, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV Leno, CV Hansa America, MV Gas Texiana, MT Tembek and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, chemical, LPG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were two ships namely CV APL Japan and CV Cope Mayor carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
