HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Syed Sardar Shah, Minister for Law Zia Lanjar, Senator Aijaz Dhamrah, and President PPP Culture Wing Sindh Qasim Siraj Soomro laid floral wreath at the Shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and offered Fateha.

Talking to the media Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Syed Sardar Shah said that they take pride and feel honoured for being at the place from where the message of peace, pluralism, humanity, love and religious harmony emanated. He further said Shah Abdul Latif was a great poet and Sufi saint, adding that it had been around three hundred years to his death but day by day the credibility of his message is extending globally. He said that a research scholar from Harvard University is doing research on the music of Latif; this also symbolizes the message of Shah Latif beyond borders. He said that basically poets have to be absorbed into their soil, and only then their message can have a global appeal.

Replying a question regarding the security of the shrines, the Minister said that the concerted efforts have been made for the security of shrines. The terrorism is a global phenomenon because of which whole comity of nations are under constant threat and very much concerned. Even the terror attacks happen in the countries like the USA in spite of all high level security measures; adding that Sindh government has taken the issues of security seriously and the security measures taken for the shrine of Shah Latif have been satisfactory. Syed Sardar Shah appealed to the general public to assist the security institutions and report any suspicious person or activity to the law enforcers in order to avoid any untoward incident.

Thereafter, the Minister for Culture Syed Sardar Ali Shah along with the other dignitaries visited the Cultural village.

The first ever statue of the Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai was inaugurated by the Gaddi Nasheen of Shah Bhittai Syed Waqar Hussain Shah; the 16 feet tall marvelous statute has been designed and made by a renowned artist and professor of Sindh University’s Arts & Design Department Nadir Jamali.
