PESHAWAR President, Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Sartaj Ahmad Khan has demanded of both federal and provincial governments for announcement of special financial package to provide loans to the business community of the district from commercial banks and usher an era of progress and development in the area.

Talking to this scribe, he said under the proposed scheme the government should arrangement the provision of credit for hydel, tourism, mineral, horticulture, youth development and cross border trade on soft terms and conditions.

Sartaj Ahmad Khan said that Chitral is bestowed with huge reserves of mineral resources and the only district of the country which is bordering three neighbouring countries including Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Peoples’ Republic of China.

He asked the government for the development of infrastructure and provision of technical skills to men and women and the linkage of the area with China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The CCCI chief also demanded the starting of flights from Chitral airport to Khorag (Tajikistan) and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that Khorag is only 35-minute flight away from Chitral.

Talking to the potentials of tourism in Chitral, he said that area has 35 walking tracks and beautiful base camp of Tirch Mir, which could be climbed from all four sides. Similarly, he said that fruits and vegetables are also produced in sufficient quantity and stressed need for the establishment of a fruits and vegetable processing plants in the district to save them from wastage.
