LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan has said that Punjab police department is providing latest weapons and speedy vehicles to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) for the protection of lives and properties of foreigners, especially Chinese people working on the various projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said this while chairing a meeting with a seven-member Chinese delegation here at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Tuesday. In the meeting, matters pertaining to security issues to the Chinese people were discussed in detail. The IGP assured the delegation that provision of “foolproof security” to the Chinese experts and investors is the foremost duty of the Punjab police.

“The motive behind the establishment of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) was to cater the needs of the foreign engineers besides providing them foolproof security in which they could feel safe and sound,” the IGP informed the delegation.
