LAHORE: A consultative meeting of the Punjab Youth Commission was held at the Department of Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology and Tourism Lahore on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Jehangir Khanzada as the Chairman of the Punjab Youth Commission. The Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports Archaeology and Tourism, Amir Jaan; Additional Secretary, Zahid Hussain and Deputy Secretary, Tahmina Habib were also a part of the instrumental meeting.

From the members of the Punjab Youth Commission, Shaza Fatima Khawaja (MNA), Mehwish Sultan (MPA), Dr. Kamran Shams, CEO PEEF, Risham Waseem from Interactive Resource Center, Saiqa Rani from Bargad, Dr. Nauman Ali Chaudhry, Visiting Faculty Member, Ahmad Younis from Individual Pakistan and Sidra Malik were present.

Minister, Jehangir Khanzada said “After the 18th Amendment, Punjab was the first province to formulate and approve its Punjab Youth Policy in May 2012. It was a great achievement of the Punjab Government. Consequently, Punjab is also the first province to formulate its Youth commission as part of the institutional mechanism of the Punjab Youth Policy. It is an extremely prestigious body and I congratulate you all for being a part of it. I welcome you all today to the first meeting of the Punjab Youth Commission,”

Dr. Kamran Shams appreciated the Punjab Youth Policy document and said that it is a wholesome document which gives the Department of Youth Affairs an overarching role in the implementation of all youth related activities. Sidra Malik encouraged the inclusion of media in all activities that the department initiates for the youth.

Additional Secretary, Zahid Hussain gave a presentation on the Punjab Youth Policy 2012 and the promulgation of the Punjab Youth Commission under the institutional mechanism of the Punjab Youth Policy. After the presentation the house was opened for discussion.
