SIALKOT: A special birthday cake cutting ceremony was held at Iqbal Manzil (the birthplace of Iqbal) under the auspices of District Council Sialkot on Thursday in connection with birthday celebrations of Allama Iqbal.

The cake cutting ceremony was performed by Chairperson Sialkot District Council Hina Arshad along with others. The ceremony was attended by a large number of people belonging different walks of life.

Talking to media the Chairperson disclosed that we have planned to established a full-fledged library at Iqbal Manzil in near future. She said that maximum books written on Iqbal written by different authors would be added in the library to facilitate the students and researchers.

The Chairperson stressed upon the teachers that they should play their instrumental role for popularizing the poetry, thoughts and philosophy of Iqbal among the students for brainstorming and bringing revolutionary changes in every sphere of life. Meanwhile, people of the area urged upon the Mayor Sialkot Municipal Corporation to take appropriate steps for removing encroachments around Iqbal Manzil because visitors were facing serious hardship to visit this historic place.
