ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken a suo motu notice on news item containing the details that there is no uniform admission policy criterion for admission in private medical colleges.

It was further alleged that exorbitant fee is being charged by private medical colleges. Students who could not get admission in the government medical colleges, their parents rush towards private medical colleges for admission of their children and resultantly medical colleges charge exorbitant fee, said a press release.

Taking notice of the issue, the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan has called detailed report from Registrar, Pakistan Medial & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad, within one week so as to apprise that:-

(i) The admission merit criterion of Private Medical Colleges,

(ii) Structure of fee schedule and maximum limit of fee that Private Medical Colleges can charge,

(iii) The role of PM&DC in regulating the admissions and fee charges of Private Medical Colleges and

(iv) Action in this regard, so far taken by PM&DC, if any.—–PR
