KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 177,366 tonnes of cargo comprising 137,167 tonnes of import cargo and 40,199 tonnes of export cargo including 4,976 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 137,167 tonnes comprised of 52,438 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,773 tonnes of general cargo; 19,956 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 17,000 tonnes of coal; 2,956 tonnes of canola and 54,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 40,199 tonnes comprised of 24,249 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,300 tonnes of talcum powder cargo and 13,650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,976 containers comprising of 3,762 containers import and 1,214 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,355 of 20’s and 1,030 of 40’s loaded while 223 of 20’s and 62 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 747 of 20’s and 124 of 40’s loaded containers while 69 of 20’s and 75 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely KMTC Mumbai, Cali, Hansa Neuburg, Adventurous, Bunga Lucerne and Seacon-6 carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Hansa Neuburg, Wan Hai-510, APL Hawaii, Bochem Singapore, MT Shalamar, Corona and Panoria carrying containers, oil tankers and talcum powder respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely Wan Hai-510, APL Hawaii, UAFL Zanzibar and Bochem Singapore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely MT Shalamar, Corona and Santa Ursula carrying oil tankers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There were five vessels viz. Nord Spring, Sima Giselle, CMA CGM Georgia, Oriental Freesia and Mercs Mahaweli carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday, while six vessels viz. Prosper, Talassa, Virgo, APL Austria, Bochem Singapore and Liberty Promise carrying containers, chemical and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 72,272 tonnes of import cargo was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely MV Bulk Electra carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Friday morning.

A total number of six vessels viz. CV APL Charleston, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Hermain-S, MV Bulk Electra, MT Umm Addalkh, MT Golar Kelvin and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as two ships namely CV Hansa America and CV San Francisco carrying containers were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. CV Hansa America, CV San Francisco, CV Prosper and MT Navios Coral carrying containers and soyabean respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Friday.

There was one ship namely MV Santy carrying rice due to arrive on Friday.

There are four ships namely CV Virgo, CV APL Hawaii, CV Seoul Tower and MV E-Tracer carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while two more ships namely MV Great-61 and MT Lion-M carrying bulk cargo and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Sunday.
