ISLAMABAD: Federal Secretary Planning, Development & Reform Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui visited the main campus of National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) here on Thursday.

Lt-Gen Naweed Zaman (retd), Rector NUST, greeted the guest upon his arrival. Ensuing was a detailed presentation on NUST, particularly focusing on international achievements, array of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, state-of-the-art research facilities, R&D projects, etc. In his remarks, the Federal Secretary acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of NUST administration to facilitate students and faculty members in their pursuit of academic excellence.

He also expressed keen interest in opening up new and better avenues for collaboration and joint research projects between NUST and the Government of Pakistan.

In the end, Secy PD&R visited NUST Medical Device Development Center (MDDC), where Bare Metal stent along with Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) ballon catheter shall be manufactured by June 2018. Currently, the facility is undertaking trial production for certification along with necessary measures for accreditation of MDDC.—PR
