LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has been prayed to stay the Senate elections till disposal of the petition challenging amendments in Election Act 2017 allegedly introduced to protect the corrupt, defaulter and dual nationality-holder politicians.

Petitioner Azhar Siddique advocate challenged the senate polls and pleaded that the Parliament has passed the impugned Election Act 2017 and omitted clauses relating to loan defaults/written off loans, dual nationality, assets, non-payment of utility charges and land revenue record during the last three assessment/financial years and income tax paid from the nomination paper.
