RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Capital police have recommended the Ministry of Interior to name US Defense and Air Attaché Colonel Joseph Emanuel Hall in Exit Control List (ECL) as he was booked for a road accident that killed a youth and injured another.

Sources said police have forwarded a letter to the Ministry of Interior, in this regard.

Sources said letter was referred on information that Emanuel would leave the country soon.

They said police in its letter stated that since investigation regarding the accident involving the US defense

attaché is underway, the police did not want him to leave Pakistan.

He is involved in a case # 168 registered on April 7, under section G/427/279 PPC. The letter suggested US embassy may be approached through Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure presence and availability of Emanuel till finalization of the case.

The police said they cannot arrest Emanuel, as the Vienna Convention provides him immunity.

However, a case was registered against the US defence attaché because he was driving a white SUV, violated traffic red signal and hit a motorbike, killing a young man Atiq Baig and injuring his cousin Raheel Ahmed, near Daman-e-Koh Area.
